Richard Barry
Sirard, Sr.
Dec 31, 1935 — Jul 3, 2025
R. Barry Sirard, Sr., respected pharmacist and reverend, was born December 31, 1935, and passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, in the presence of his devoted family. He leaves a distinguished legacy characterized by faith, compassion, and committed service to both his community and his country. His profession was pharmacy, his passion was ministry, and his legacy is the example he led for his children and the many souls he led to the Heavenly Father.
Mr. Sirard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George Sirard of San Rafael and Angiel (Nehring) Sirard of Winters. In 1937, following his father's career with Shell Oil Company, the family relocated to Sacramento, California. Mr. Sirard completed his secondary education at Sacramento High School before graduating from Oregon State University's College of Pharmacy in 1959. Immediately upon graduation, he received an officer's commission in the United States Army and served actively in the Infantry from 1959 to 1961, earning the distinction of Airborne Ranger. He continued his military commitment in the Army Reserves until 1969 and was honorably discharged as a Captain.
His professional life was dedicated to pharmacy, beginning as a pharmacist and manager at Kellogg's Pharmacy in the Sacramento Medical Clinic. With the opening of the Woodland Clinic Medical Group, Mr. Sirard established Sirard's Prescription Pharmacy, which he owned and operated from 1967 to 1994 within the clinic. Upon its merger with Mercy Healthcare, he sold the business to Kmart Pharmacy, where he remained a pharmacist and manager for 22 years, serving in both Woodland and Lodi. He further contributed his expertise at Kmarts Lakeport location, Raley's and Bel Air Pharmacies as a float pharmacist across multiple locations.
A transformative experience during his collegiate years led Mr. Sirard to embrace ministry alongside his pharmaceutical career. As an ordained minister, he was instrumental in founding Trinity Tabernacle in Davis in collaboration with Pastor A. Ronald Coady. His ministry continued for 25 years across several congregations, including New Testament and Capital Christian Center, and most recently, Church on the Rock, where he served faithfully for two decades.
Barry fell in love and married the love of his life, Georgia (née Bianchi), and they had 56 wonderful years together. Together they raised five children: Dr. Barry Sirard, Jr. (married to Delaina) of Coopersburg, PA; Dr. Christopher Sirard (married to Courtney) of Woodland; Colonel Jonathan Sirard (married to Kristin) stationed in Stuttgart, Germany; Alexandria Lekberg (married to Reverend and Dr. David) of Chesterfield, VA; and Dr. Timothy Sirard (married to Paulina) of Vallakra, Sweden. Barry was a proud "Papou" to 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandson: Barry Jr.'s children, Barry III, Genessa Sirard McDuff, Angielisa Sirard Redding, Kayla, and Joshua; Christopher's children, Glory Sirard Ellingson, Christopher, Caleb, Shantel, Shoshanna, Benjamin, and Davy; Jonathan's children, Lexi, Jonathan Jr., Sophia, and Bennett; Alexandria's children, Annabella, David III, Joseph, and Elizabeth; Timothy's son Björn Hans Barry; Gennessa and Taylor's sons, Samuel.
Barry was predeceased by his parents, George and Angiel Sirard, and his cousin, Fred Nehring.
His dedication to family, faith, and community remained steadfast throughout his life. Barry will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His warmth, generosity, and unshakable faith will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
