In Loving Memory of Hector Manuel Moreno

Hector Manuel Moreno, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, hard work, and devotion to the family he spent his life building and caring for.

Hector was born in Atengo, a small town in Jalisco, Mexico, to the late Jose Moreno and Maria Moreno. He was one of 11 siblings and grew up surrounded by family, learning from an early age the importance of perseverance and looking out for one another. As a young man, Hector immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life. With determination and an unwavering commitment to his family, he not only built a life for himself, but helped his parents and siblings make their way to the United States as well. He proudly became a United States citizen, a milestone that represented the worked so hard to achieve.

Hector spent most of his working life as a cook, a role that suited his generous spirit and love of gathering together for a meal. Family gatherings were among his greatest joys, especially when they included good food, laughter, and mariachi. Hector was a natural jokester who enjoyed making people laugh. He took great pride in his appearance, always putting thought into his outfits, proudly wearing his cowboy hats, and keeping his signature mustache just right. He had an incredible green thumb and took great pride in caring for his plants. He adored German Shepherds, chickens, and roosters, and could often be found tending to the things he cared for with patience and pride.

But perhaps Hector’s greatest joy came later in life when he became a grandfather. He was absolutely delighted by his grandchildren and embraced the role with a special warmth and playfulness. His love for them was evident in the way he interacted with them and in the happiness they brought him.

Another deeply meaningful milestone in Hector’s life was being reunited with his son, Joseph, who he had earlier in life. Their reunion was a profound and beautiful moment for Hector and one that brought him tremendous happiness.

After retiring, Hector continued to give of himself to others. He became a pillar of his community, spending years helping neighbors by picking up and dropping off their children for school. He gave his time freely and quietly, never seeking recognition.

Hector is survived by his beloved wife, Amalia Caldera de Moreno; his daughters, Marcela Beltramo and Carla Moreno; his grandchildren, Logan Beltramo, Roland Beltramo, Dahlia Jo Hallmark McSwain, and Manuel Hallmark McSwain; and his son, Joseph whom he was blessed to reunite with later in life.

He is also survived by his siblings, Ruben Moreno, Benjamin Moreno, Francisco Moreno, Salvador Moreno, David Moreno, Jose Moreno, Martha Moreno, Olivia Salas, and Andrea Olvera. He was preceded in death by his sister, Acela Moreno, and his parents, Jose and Magdalena Moreno.

Hector will be remembered for his big personality, his quick sense of humor, his generosity, and above all, his love for his family. He worked hard to create a better life for those he loved and spent his life making sure the people around him felt cared for. His laughter, stories, and generosity will remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the life he built and the love he gave will continue through his children, grandchildren, siblings, and the many lives he touched.

May he rest peacefully.

Hector Manuel Moreno, de 78 años, falleció en paz el martes 28 de Julio de 2026, rodeado de su familia. Deja un legado de generosidad, alegría, trabajo arduo y dedicación a la familia que pasó su vida formando y cuidando.

Hector nació en Atengo, un pequeño pueblo de Jalisco, México, hijo de los fallecidos Jose Moreno y Maria Moreno. Fue uno de 11 hermanos y creció rodeado de su familia, aprendiendo desde muy joven la importancia de la perseverancia y de cuidarse y apoyarse unos a otros.

De joven, Hector emigró a los Estados Unidos en busca de una vida mejor. Con determinación y un compromiso inquebrantable con su familia, no solo construyó una vida para sí mismo, sino que también ayudó a sus padres y hermanos a llegar a los Estados Unidos. Con gran orgullo se convirtió en ciudadano estadounidense, un logro que representó todo aquello por lo que trabajó tan arduamente para alcanzar.

Hector pasó la mayor parte de su vida laboral trabajando como cocinero, un oficio que reflejaba su espíritu generoso y su amor por reunirse alrededor de una buena comida. Las reuniones familiares estaban entre sus mayores alegrías, especialmente cuando incluían buena comida, risas y música de mariachi.

Hector era naturalmente bromista y disfrutaba hacer reír a los demás. Se sentía muy orgulloso de su apariencia, siempre poniendo atención a su manera de vestir, luciendo con orgullo sus sombreros vaqueros y cuidando siempre su característico bigote. Tenía un don increíble para las plantas y disfrutaba mucho cuidarlas. Adoraba a los pastores alemanes, las gallinas y los gallos, y con frecuencia se le encontraba cuidando con paciencia y orgullo todo aquello que amaba.

Pero quizás la mayor alegría de Hector llegó más adelante en su vida, cuando se convirtió en abuelo. Disfrutó enormemente de sus nietos y abrazó este papel con una ternura y alegría muy especiales. El amor que sentía por ellos era evidente en la manera en que convivía con ellos y en la felicidad que le brindaban.

Otro momento profundamente significativo en la vida de Hector fue el reencuentro con su hijo, Joseph, a quien tuvo en una etapa anterior de su vida. Su reencuentro fue un momento profundo y hermoso para Hector, que le brindó una inmensa felicidad.

Después de jubilarse, Hector continuó entregándose a los demás. Se convirtió en un pilar de su comunidad, dedicando años a ayudar a sus vecinos recogiendo y llevando a sus hijos de la escuela. Ofrecía su tiempo de manera generosa y desinteresada, sin buscar reconocimiento.

A Hector le sobreviven su amada esposa, Amalia Caldera de Moreno; sus hijas, Marcela Beltramo y Carla Moreno; sus nietos, Logan Beltramo, Roland Beltramo, Dahlia Jo Hallmark McSwain y Manuel Hallmark McSwain; y su hijo, Joseph, con quien tuvo la dicha de reencontrarse más adelante en su vida.

También le sobreviven sus hermanos, Ruben Moreno, Benjamin Moreno, Francisco Moreno, Salvador Moreno, David Moreno, Jose Moreno, Martha Moreno, Olivia Salas y Andrea Olvera. Le precedieron en la muerte su hermana, Acela Moreno, y sus padres, Jose y Magdalena Moreno.

Hector será recordado por su gran personalidad, su rápido sentido del humor, su generosidad y, sobre todo, por el amor que sentía por su familia. Trabajó arduamente para crear una vida mejor para aquellos que amaba y pasó su vida asegurándose de que las personas a su alrededor se sintieran cuidadas y queridas. Sus risas, sus historias y su generosidad permanecerán para siempre en el corazón de su familia y de todos aquellos que tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo.

Aunque su presencia será profundamente extrañada, la vida que construyó y el amor que dio continuarán viviendo a través de sus hijos, nietos, hermanos y de las muchas vidas que tocó.

A Viewing will be held for Hector Moreno on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Church on the Rock; 630 Cottonwood St, Woodland, California. Rosary scheduled for 6:00 P.M.

Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, 12:00 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; 645 California Street, Woodland, California.

Burial to follow on August 13, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Cemetery; 860 West Street, Woodland, California.
